Pokey Pokey at the 2 Month Appointment

Yesterday, Z got her first round of shots. I was nervous at first because of things my dad had said about feeling bad/sad/upset that someone is going to poke my baby and the fact that Z didn't know what was ahead of her. Even as an adult, I don't like needles but can tolerate them. I remembered when she was poked in the hospital the day after she was born and how she screamed at the top of her lungs...broke my heart. I still tear up when I see the video I recorded on my phone of that moment.

Z weighed a whopping 11 lbs and 10 ounces! My baby is getting chunky...hehe. When the time came for Z to get her immunizations, she was sleep because I was breastfeeding her to calm her down...she was still tired from over the weekend. The nurse gave her a dose of oral medication, which woke her up. Then the nurse proceeded to give Z the first of three shots in her right thigh. After the first shot, Z didn't cry but I think she was processing what was going on. Right when she started crying, the nurse quickly poked her twice in her left thigh, bandaged her, and the who process was over.

It seemed to take no more than 30 seconds. Z was consoled and within a minute or two after the shots, she stopped crying. Amazing! Z took it like a brave little girl. Mommy and daddy were so proud! :) Z even gave us a few smiles before leaving the room. Oh, and the cry was not anything new to me and Josh. We were thinking we were going to hear some different type of cry when Z got poked.

Z was a little cranky throughout the day yesterday but I am not sure it is because she either was still recouping from the weekend or she was in a little pain or both. Nevertheless, all is well and now she can come out and show her pretty face to the world! The people at Church are dying to eat her up...hahaha.

Ahhhh, no more shots until 4 months.

What a weekend!

"Daddy, can I PLEASE have some candy?" (LOL) Josh better watch out for this look!
So precious! QT with Daddy...
Hahahaha! Granddaddy trying HARD to get Z to sleep. Look at the barracade! LOL
Knocked out on Grandma's shoulder. She looks peaceful and in deep sleep...

Whew, not only was Z overstimulated but mommy was too!

My parents came up to visit me, Josh, and Z this weekend and boy was things thrown in a loop. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the weekend like I always do when my fam comes into town but I think Z was not well rested for the weekend. Poor baby was SOOOO tired Sunday night. Even today, two days later, she is still tired. Her routine is out the window now so I have to reestablish EASY back into our lives. It will take a few days but hopefully things will be back on track by next week.

Well, Z turned two months this weekend and boy, was she spoiled. She got a bouncer and a play mat for her birthday! She enjoyed the bouncer so much in the store that we had to get it. Also, I thought it would be good to give her a play mat where she can lay on her back and practice some hand-eye coordination with the toys hanging from over the mat. Too bad she hasn't really enjoyed it for long since we got it...she would cry after a very short time on the mat. I'm guessing there is too much for her to focus on so she would get frustrated. We will try again a little later.

Oh my, my little nephew came up with my brother and his girlfriend. That boy is so handsome! The last time and ONLY time I saw him was when he was born. Before he came this weekend, I only saw his growth through picture messages my mom and brother would send via phone. My nephew looks like an even mix of my brother and his girlfriend...such a cutie pie. He is SO active. I thought he was going to tear up Z's bouncer! LOL. I was so glad I got to see him. He seemed to enjoyed his visit. My dad recorded my nephew running and playing around the living room. Wished I could have taken a picture of him and Z together but Z was so disoriented and upset that I thought it wouldn't have turned out to be a good picture. My nephew quickly bonded with Josh. It was soooo cute. Josh went to the bathroom and closed the door. My nephew looked around the corner to find him and couldn't. So he stood there and cried until Josh came back.

Overall, I was glad to see my family. Next time, however, I will try to make sure Z is real rested for the excitement of family visits.

OMG! I am a Mommy!

Ok, so I have been one since the 22nd of June but still, this is so new to me! I can't believe my baby boo will be 2 months on Saturday! Oh, how time flies. Besides taking pictures of her on my blackberry almost everyday, I figured I keep up a blog to document my lifelong journey of being a first time mommy. I hope that God blesses this blog and that I can update with posts on an almost daily basis. I think the key for me to keep a blog up and running is to keep posts simple and to the point. I know how I can ramble on and on about nothing and end up wasting time, which I found out quick that I don't have much to myself now.

So now she is napping and I have a million things to do, as one would say. I have another blog I am trying to keep up with that documents my journey of earning money online through two sites: Cashcrate and Cashle. Hopefully I can be one of those who successfully earns thousands a year online but I am setting my first goal of earning $1000 on Cashcrate first. I have earned $261 so far...yay!

Ok, Z is going to take some pictures today. I received a coupon to get a free "new baby" package. Yay for FREE! :) Hopefully there will be more happy poses to choose from this time compared to last time...I was happy to find two poses in the last batch where she was not frowning. Haha...her mean mug brow is definitely from daddy...too cute. But she is smiling more so I am guessing this photo session will be even more fun to do given that she is well rested and fed. Good thing it will not be as hot today as it had been for the past few days.

Until the next post...God Bless!

Love you Z and J!

Tummy Time-August

Awww, Zakiah is giving it all she got to lift up her head. It is amazing how babies put everything they can to work toward a goal. It brings a tear to my eye because she is growing up so fast! It seems like I delivered her yesterday. Soon she will be holding up that head with such ease. Aw, sometimes I just wish she wouldn't grow up so fast. Nevertheless, I am grateful to be able to look at these video clips to relive the memories and see how far she has come. I love my Zakiah! You go, boo!
